I can't believe it's been almost two years since my last post. Not that you've been knocking down my door to update :-)
This summer has been slow and relaxing. Trips to Virginia and New York highlighted this long summer break. I got to spend time with the fam on both sides!
Virginia was a family reunion on Mom's side. Uncle Greg found us a house by the beach and it was awesome! We spent time playing games, riding bikes, kayaking (just ask Denise!), swimming at the pool, walking the boardwalk, and oh yeah, a little time at the beach! We didn't eat out once - it was great! We were paired up and each pair had one night to cook dinner. It was so great and we certainly did NOT go hungry. Denise and I won in the left-over department. We made a fabulous nut-crusted lime chicken with rice-a-roni and grilled zucchini and squash. We had just about one serving of rice-a-roni left over. Mom lost with enough chicken paprikash to feed us all one more time (there were 12 of us)! Good times Schettlers!
New York was a trip I have been wanting to make since I moved to Ohio. My Dad's sister is in New York with most of her 6 kids near by! I actually got to see 5 of the 6 cousins (maybe next year Joe!) and we had a blast! I'm so glad I went - I need to make it a yearly habit. Sheila and Aunt Eileen took me to New York City! I have not been to NYC in more than 30 years. Yikes! I really wanted to go to see Ground Zero. What an experience. Sheila said we walked for 10 miles that day! What a trooper my Aunt Eileen is!
So my goal now is to post some summer pics. Hope you enjoy!
